Northstar

Residential Addition + Full Interior Remodel | Northstar California

Overview:

The Northstar project involved a major residential addition and full interior transformation within a highly regulated mountain community. The client came in without a clear understanding of the process, and Tradecraft led from the beginning, handling permitting, coordinating with the architect and engineer, and navigating HOA and fire department requirements.

What started as an outdated layout was expanded and rebuilt into a cohesive, high-performing home. From structural additions to full system upgrades and finish work, the project was executed as a complete transformation designed to function in a demanding alpine environment.

Execution

This project required coordination across multiple layers, including structural expansion, system upgrades, and strict regulatory oversight. Working within Northstar’s HOA and fire department requirements added complexity that had to be managed early and consistently throughout the build.

The addition was integrated into the existing structure while maintaining continuity in both form and finish. Every system, from electrical and HVAC to roofing and exterior detailing, was executed with attention to sequencing and long-term performance in a high-snow, high-exposure environment.

Build Detail

The project demanded alignment between design, permitting, and construction from the outset. With structural additions, system upgrades, and exterior requirements all in play, each phase had to be coordinated to avoid delays and ensure compliance across all governing bodies.

The finished home delivers both scale and performance. The expanded layout, upgraded systems, and refined finishes come together to create a space that is built for the realities of the Northstar climate while maintaining a clean, cohesive aesthetic throughout.
